Ride and Report
The Ride and Report is intended for riders that feel they would benefit from an assessment and actionable advice on such things as their pedalling technique, riding style, bike setup (riding position) and road craft (etiquette, communications).
Try to think of the R&R as being like a car’s MOT with advisory notices – it is an assessment of the situation!
The idea behind this service is for a group of up to riders to go for a social ride of up to two hours and have the chance to receive actionable feedback that will help to improve their overall cycling skills.
During each outing, every rider will be individually assessed for 10-15 minutes and feedback provided regarding such things as pedalling technique, riding style, bike setup (riding position) and road craft (etiquette, communications).
Frequently Asked Questions:
1) I usually ride solo but want to try a group ride. Does it matter that I am inexperienced?
Not at all!
The whole point of this service is to provide feedback so that you can try to improve your overall cycling skills. Rest assured that we will always try to place you in a group of riders at the same level of ability and experience so that the pace and duration of the ride can be adjusted appropriately.
2) Will there be any ladies only rides?
If enough ladies request this then absolutely there will be but you’ll have to accept Andy as the male guide!
3) Is it a one-off or a regular commitment?
Riders can take part in up to three Ride and Report (R&R) sessions per calendar year. So, for example, you could take part in a R&R in Winter, Spring and Autumn, leaving Summer for events and cycling holidays!
4) I am concerned that I won’t be able to keep up with the others in the group.
Don’t be!
We will always try to ensure that each group contains riders of the same level of ability but, if you do find yourself tailing off, just shout out “Back off a bit, please!”. It’s a group ride after all so we look after each other, always…!
5) How do I get my feedback?
The verbal feedback given during the ride will be confirmed by short summary report so that you have a permanent record and can try to put the advice in to practice.
6) Both the Ride and Report service and The Peloton seem to be group outings, so what’s the difference between them?
The difference between the two is that the R&R is a one-off assessment with subsequent advice for the rider to action, whereas The Peloton is a commitment of at least 5 weeks.
7) How often do the Ride and Report sessions take place?
R&R sessions will be conducted on 3 weekends in Autumn (Oct-Dec) & Winter (Jan-Mar), potentially rising to 4 in Spring (Apr-Jun) & Summer (Jul-Sep). If demand is high, additional evening R&R sessions will be scheduled for Spring / Summer as the daylight lengthens.
8) What happens if I book a Ride and Report session then change my mind or can’t take part on the day?
We’re reasonable people so we’ll try to factor in changes in circumstance that prevent you taking part in the Ride and Report. As guideline, however
Cancellations with <48 hours notice will not be refunded.
